Laconia Bike Week kicked off Sunday for its 86th year. Festivities began with the Vintage Motorcycle Races at New Hampshire Speedway on Sunday with hundreds of events scheduled for the entire week through Father’s Day, June 21st. Laconia Bike Week is one of the largest and oldest gatherings of motorcycle enthusiasts in the country. In addition to guided tours through the White Mountains of New Hampshire, thousands of vendors will be descending on this vacation hamlet selling everything from t-shirts to motorcycle RVs.
Look for some of our Hemmings staff at the hill climbs at Gunstock on Wednesday; always amazing to see some of these bikes climbing a ski slope in less and 30 seconds. Snowmobile and quad classes also compete.
The streets of Weirs Beach are limited to two-wheeled vehicles only for most of the week, so if you are driving, be prepared to walk some distance. The lake area is great for touring, the Mt. Washington Road and the Kangamangus Highway are nearby and blueberries are in season, so the pancakes are great. More information is available online at www.laconiamcweek.com/
