Redline Attacks Time in Nashville

Are you from Tennessee? We rolled into to Nashville to check out round four of the Redline Time Attack. The stage was set for a big battle between two very different Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions: the Evo 8 of Sierra Sierra Enterprises and the AMS Performance Evo X. We’ll bring you a full video on StreetFire.net later on the week and I’ll have a more complete blog entry with more stories from the weekend. Until then here is a quick rundown. Mark Daddio reigned supreme in the AMS Evo X with a scorching 1:01.296 good for U AWD gold and the overall. Hit the jump to see how Sierra Sierra ran as well as Christian Rado and his Fwing’d Scion tC.

Jonathan Bomarito had the Sierra Sierra Evo dancing at Nashville on practice. But practice doesn’t count. Rather than invest any time into actual reporting I’ll just cut and past this quote from the Facebook profile of Eric Hsu, the Cosworth tuning guru working with the Sierra squared team. “The Sierra Sierra EVO 8 broke a rear end mount today at Nashville Super Speedway coming out of the pits. Cars are taking a beating on the transitions from infield to oval (there are 4 rough transitions). We are done for the weekend. It ran a best time this weekend of 1:01.3 during practice. More boost and softer tires would have been interesting. AMS ran a best time of 1:00.9 during practice. Good competition = fun.” Hopefully the Sierra team can get the car back together in time for the next round. Everyone wants to see them have “fun” with AMS.

Christian Rado’s tC is essentially built like that of his infamous drag cars except with the ability to turn and brake thrown into the mix. At Nashville the FWD fwing’d tC was laying down 984whp. Mind you this is from a standard tC four cylinder mill with a heaping amount of turbocharged boost thrown at it. On the Nashville Super Speedway front straight the little black tC was registering a 165mph trap speed (the AMS Evo was trapping in the mid-150s). However the front wheel speed was registering 200-plus mph. Essentially Christian was doing a triple digit speed burnout all the way down the main straight. Rado eventually “pedaled” the tC to a 103.5. If he can dial down the power or get much more tire than 275 width Hankook tires underneath we should see much more from this time attacker. That’s all for now, I’m off to the Grand Ole Opry.
